Carnival Cruise Line just dropped some big news for loyal cruisers. With the upcoming launch of the Carnival Rewards loyalty program in June 2026, the cruise line has announced exciting updates designed to reward its most dedicated guests, those holding Diamond and Platinum status in the current VIFP Club.
President Christine Duffy explained that these changes come directly from passenger feedback. “We’ve spent the summer talking with our guests, listening to their comments and taking in their feedback. As a result, we are making changes to improve the offering to our most loyal customers,” she said.
Diamond Members: Lifetime Status Secured
For Diamond members, the news is especially exciting. Anyone who reaches Diamond status in the current VIFP Club by May 31, 2026 will not only keep their perks through May 31, 2032, but will also be granted lifetime Diamond status in the new Carnival Rewards program.
This ensures that top-tier benefits are secured forever without the need to requalify in future cycles.
Platinum Members: A Head Start to Diamond
Extended Benefits
Platinum members are also getting a big boost. Previously, Platinum status was only set to extend until May 31, 2028, but now these guests will also receive a bi-annual boost of 10,000 Carnival Rewards qualifying stars beginning June 1, 2026, and continuing every two years after.
Faster Progression
This boost gives Platinum guests a 20 percent head start in earning Platinum status during each new cycle, while also putting them closer to achieving Diamond. Perhaps most importantly, it guarantees that Platinum guests will never fall below Gold status in future cycles of the Carnival Rewards program.
Families and Younger Cruisers
Families are included in the updates as well. Since U.S. privacy laws prevent children under 18 from officially enrolling in programs like Carnival Rewards, kids will continue to enjoy the same status as their parent or guardian during each sailing. Once they turn 18, those who have reached Diamond or Platinum by May 31, 2026 will be invited to opt into the new program with their earned status fully intact, enjoying the same privileges as other Diamond and Platinum guests.
Global Guests
Carnival also confirmed that it is actively exploring ways to extend similar enhanced benefits to Canadian and Australian cruisers. For U.S. guests, the new Carnival Rewards Mastercard will play a big role in helping members earn points faster, and the cruise line hopes to offer comparable opportunities for other regions as well.
Carnival Rewards Launching June 1, 2026:
When Carnival Rewards launches on June 1, 2026, it will mark the first program of its kind in the cruise industry. Inspired by the success of airline and hotel loyalty programs, guests will be able to earn points not only through cruising but also through spending.
hese points can then be converted into reward dollars and applied toward cruise fares, onboard experiences, shore excursions, and more. The introduction of the co-branded Carnival Rewards Mastercard will also give U.S. residents even more opportunities to earn.
Final Thoughts
For Carnival’s most loyal cruisers, these enhancements are a clear win. Diamond members can relax knowing their status will last a lifetime, Platinum members have a smoother and faster path to the top, and families can look forward to benefits that extend to every member sailing with them.
With this updated approach, Carnival Rewards is set to bring a fresh, more flexible way to enjoy loyalty perks at sea.
