A Milestone at Meyer Turku Shipyard
Making waves in Turku, Finland, Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas officially touched water for the first time at the Meyer Turku shipyard. The float-out marked a major construction milestone as the newest member of the Icon Class left its dry dock after nearly 12 hours of careful flooding. Now positioned at the outfitting dock, the ship will continue to take shape ahead of its August 2026 debut.
Engineering Feat: The Float-Out Process

The float-out is one of the most celebrated stages of shipbuilding. Overnight, the dry dock was gradually filled with water until the Legend of the Seas could float freely for the first time. From there, she was carefully moved to the outfitting dock where work will shift to completing the interiors, systems, and signature Royal Caribbean features that will define the guest experience.
Icon Class Innovation Continues

As the third ship in the revolutionary Icon Class lineup, Legend of the Seas is designed to push the boundaries of family vacations. The ship will showcase eight distinct neighborhoods, each filled with ways to play, relax, and explore.
