Azamara Announces 2028 World Cruise: A 175-Night Journey Across Six Continents

Sharing is caring!

Azamara Cruises has announced its most ambitious voyage to date, the 2028 World Cruise aboard Azamara Onward. This 175-night global journey will span six continents, 40 countries and 91 ports, offering more late nights, overnights and countries visited than any other world cruise announced for 2028. Known for its small-ship charm and Destination Immersion focus, Azamara is positioning this sailing as the ultimate opportunity for travelers to explore the world deeply and comfortably.

Departing Miami on January 5, 2028, this once-in-a-lifetime sailing also includes the support of Azamara’s new World Cruise Desk, a dedicated pre-cruise concierge designed to help guests and travel partners plan their journey with ease.

According to Dondra Ritzenthaler, CEO of Azamara Cruises, the 2028 World Cruise is the line’s most culturally immersive journey yet. She explains that guests will have unmatched opportunities for extended exploration, from more overnights and late nights to meaningful interactions with local cultures and Azamara’s welcoming crew.

A Grand Itinerary Covering the Globe

The 2028 World Cruise begins with visits to the Southern Caribbean and Latin America, including Aruba and Colombia, followed by a Panama Canal transit. The journey continues along the west coast of South America with stops in Ecuador and Peru before heading into the Pacific Ocean.

Guests will have rare opportunities to explore Easter Island and the UNESCO designated Rapa Nui National Park, as well as remote Pitcairn Island, home to fewer than 50 residents. Overnight stays in Tahiti and Bora Bora add even more South Pacific magic to this section of the voyage.

From there, Azamara Onward sails to New Zealand and Australia with calls in Christchurch, Sydney and Cairns. In Asia, the itinerary includes Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore. After crossing the Indian Ocean, the ship visits Sri Lanka before continuing to southern Africa with stops in South Africa and Namibia.

The voyage then heads toward the Canary Islands, Morocco, Barcelona and the French Riviera. Italy follows with Rome, the Amalfi Coast and Sicily before the itinerary concludes with Croatia, the Greek Isles and Turkey. The journey ends on June 29, 2028, in Athens, Greece.

Fourteen Flexible Segments

While many travelers will opt for the full 175-night adventure, Azamara has created 14 segments that can be booked individually.

Each segment blends marquee cities with lesser-known ports and includes access to UNESCO World Heritage Sites, cultural programs, enrichment activities and AzAmazing Evenings. Guests can expect region-specific entertainment, tastings, lectures and a schedule filled with late stays and overnight calls.

Overland Adventures to Bucket List Icons

The 2028 World Cruise features an extensive collection of overland programs designed to take guests even deeper into each region. Highlights include multi-day visits to:

Beijing, the Great Wall and Xi’an with the Terra Cotta Warriors
The temples of Siem Reap including Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm
The Taj Mahal, Agra and Delhi
Bhutan’s mountain monasteries
Sri Lanka’s ancient cities and wildlife reserves
Safari lodges in South Africa

Additional programs, including opportunities to visit Machu Picchu and Marrakesh, will be announced as they are finalized.
