Holland America Line is set to bring the grandeur of Alaska to a national stage this fall. For the very first time, the cruise line will debut a float in the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
This special appearance comes just ahead of Holland America Line’s 80th anniversary of sailing in Alaska. The float is designed to highlight the breathtaking landscapes, wildlife, and culture of the Great Land, while celebrating nearly eight decades of exploration.
A Float Like No Other!

The Alaska-themed float will be a true showstopper as it makes its way down the 2.5-mile Parade route in Manhattan. Featuring glaciers, wildlife, and even a tribute to Denali National Park, the float uses cutting-edge kinetic design elements never before seen in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line, shared:
“Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a national stage where we can celebrate our nearly 80 years exploring Alaska by bringing the beauty and adventure of Alaska to the streets of Manhattan. We love Alaska, and our float is a tribute to its grandeur, a way to honor its landscapes, spirit and people while inspiring travelers to experience it with us.”
The Largest Kinetic Sculpture in Parade History
One of the most exciting features is the largest kinetic sculpture ever created for the Parade. This innovative design will bring Alaska’s wilderness to life, from moving sculpted animals to shifting glaciers. The artistry and technology are designed to wow both in-person spectators and millions of viewers nationwide.
Jordan Dabby, producer of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, said:
“We’ve collaborated closely to bring Alaska’s scenery to life through lifelike sculptures and a never-before-seen kinetic effect that is sure to inspire and delight both live spectators and viewers nationwide on Thanksgiving morning.”
Celebrating Alaska’s Spirit and Resources

Beyond the visual spectacle, the float highlights Holland America Line’s deep connection with Alaska.
- Glacier Guarantee: A commitment that every Alaska cruise includes a glacier viewing experience.
- Unmatched Wildlife Viewing: Guests have access to more than 178 sanctuaries and sightseeing opportunities, the most of any cruise line.
- Sustainable Seafood: Holland America is the first and only cruise line certified in Alaska sustainable seafood through its Global Fresh Fish Program. Guests can enjoy fresh catches sourced directly from local Alaskan fishermen.
At the float unveiling event aboard Eurodam in Juneau, Alaska, community leaders and tourism officials joined in the celebration, including Juneau’s Mayor Beth Weldon and Alaska’s Commissioner of Commerce, Julie Sande.
Sande noted:
“Holland America Line’s float captures the beauty of our state in a way that’s uniquely Alaskan. It’s a joy to know that people across the country will get a glimpse of what makes Alaska so special.”
Nearly 80 Years of Cruising the Great Land

Holland America Line has been exploring Alaska since before it became a state. In 2027, the cruise line will officially celebrate 80 years of sailing the region.
For its 79th season in summer 2026, six ships will explore Alaska from April through September. Cruises will range from 7 to 28 days, including the popular Alaska Arctic Circle Solstice itinerary. Guests can sail roundtrip from Seattle, roundtrip from Vancouver, or between Vancouver and Whittier (Anchorage).
Denali and Yukon Cruisetours
For travelers who want more than a cruise, Holland America Line offers signature Cruisetours that combine an Alaska sailing with an overland journey to Denali National Park. Some tours even continue into the Yukon, a region Holland America remains the only cruise line to include on overland itineraries.
