Margaritaville at Sea has officially announced the acquisition of a third cruise ship as it continues its rapid growth in the cruise industry. The cruise line has purchased the Costa Fortuna, a ship currently sailing with Costa Cruises, and will relaunch it under the Margaritaville at Sea brand in 2026.
This marks the company’s third ship in three years, following the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise and the recently introduced Margaritaville at Sea Islander. The announcement was made on the brand’s third anniversary, highlighting a significant milestone and an exciting new chapter.
About the New Ship
The Costa Fortuna is set to become the largest vessel in the Margaritaville at Sea fleet. At more than 102,500 gross tons, the ship can accommodate approximately 3,450 passengers and features over 1,340 staterooms across 13 passenger decks. Cruise passengers can expect expansive outdoor spaces and a striking eight-story central atrium that will be redesigned with Margaritaville’s signature relaxed and tropical aesthetic.
The ship will continue sailing as Costa Fortuna under Costa Cruises through late 2025. After that, it will be fully reimagined before entering service with Margaritaville at Sea from a new homeport to be announced soon.
A Continued Focus on Growth and Guest Experience
Since its launch in 2022, Margaritaville at Sea has brought the brand’s unique style of hospitality to cruising with a focus on fun, relaxation, and immersive experiences. The cruise line has already earned top accolades from both the industry and guests, including Cruise Critic’s number one Cruisers’ Choice Award and Newsweek’s 2025 Best Ship for Families.
Christopher Ivy, CEO of Margaritaville at Sea, shared that the ship’s addition will allow the brand to further expand its offerings: “Over the last three years we have been incredibly focused on building Margaritaville at Sea by delivering more of what our guests love. With the acquisition of our third ship in three years, we are proud to once again invite guests to step into the Margaritaville state of mind on the open ocean.”
John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville, added: “Margaritaville at Sea has been on an exceptional trajectory since its launch only a few short years ago. We’re thrilled to once again expand the experience of our brand on the water and share the cruise line’s signature experiences and amenities with even more guests.”
Looking Ahead to 2026
The newly acquired ship will open the door to brand-new itineraries and cruise experiences when it begins sailing under the Margaritaville at Sea name in 2026.
Cruisers can expect the same laid-back style and memorable onboard experiences the brand has become known for, now on a larger scale.
