argaritaville at Sea has named three-time GRAMMY Award winner Zac Brown as the official Godfather of its newest cruise ship, Beachcomber, which is set to debut in January 2027.
Brown will officially christen the ship in Miami on January 9, 2027, before Beachcomber departs on its inaugural sailing. He will also perform onboard as part of the ship’s launch celebration.
The announcement expands an already growing partnership between the country music star and Margaritaville at Sea.
Zac Brown’s Role on Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber
As Godfather of Beachcomber, Brown will take part in the traditional maritime christening ceremony, helping officially welcome the ship into service and wishing safe travels to its guests and crew.
However, Brown’s connection to the new ship goes well beyond the ceremonial role.
He collaborated directly with Margaritaville at Sea on Same Boat, a new live music venue debuting onboard Beachcomber. The venue is being billed as the world’s first artist-designed live music venue at sea, with Brown involved in its design, artwork and music programming.
Same Boat is inspired by Zac Brown Band’s song of the same name. Jimmy Buffett appeared on a version of the song included on the deluxe edition of the band’s album The Comeback.
“It’s been so much fun working with the Margaritaville at Sea family to bring Same Boat on Beachcomber to life,” Brown said.
Brown added that he is looking forward to seeing guests experience the ship with their families and friends and create lasting vacation memories.
Same Boat Will Celebrate Zac Brown and Jimmy Buffett’s Musical Connection
The Same Boat venue will also highlight the longstanding musical relationship between Zac Brown and Jimmy Buffett.
The two artists first performed together for CMT’s Crossroads and later collaborated on several projects, including the hit song “Knee Deep.”
Throughout Beachcomber’s inaugural season, Same Boat will feature a rotating lineup of live performers.
Margaritaville at Sea CEO Christopher Ivy said Brown’s involvement made him a natural choice for the Godfather role.
“Zac has become an important part of the Margaritaville at Sea family, and naming him Godfather of Beachcomber is a natural next step in a partnership that continues to grow,” Ivy said.
Zac Brown to Perform During Margaritaville at Sea Fleet Gathering
Brown will also headline an exclusive concert in Nassau on January 28, 2027.
The event will take place during the first-ever gathering of Margaritaville at Sea’s three-ship fleet, bringing Beachcomber, Islander and Paradise together in Nassau.
The cruise line is also currently serving as presenting sponsor of Zac Brown Band’s 27-show Love & Fear U.S. Tour.
The partnership previously made headlines at the band’s August 2 concert at Fenway Park.
During the show, Brown surprised more than 35,000 concertgoers by giving every person in attendance a Margaritaville at Sea cruise vacation.
According to Margaritaville at Sea, the giveaway represented approximately $43 million in cruise vacations.
Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber Debuts in January 2027
Beachcomber will begin sailing from PortMiami in January 2027. The ship is expected to introduce more than 15 new venues while also bringing back several familiar Margaritaville at Sea concepts.
During its inaugural season, Beachcomber will offer four- to eight-night cruises to destinations in the Eastern and Southern Caribbean.
In October 2027, the ship will reposition to Galveston, Texas.
From Galveston, Beachcomber will offer cruises to destinations throughout Mexico and the Western Caribbean, giving Margaritaville at Sea a broader selection of itineraries from the Texas homeport.
With Zac Brown involved in both the ship’s entertainment and its official launch, Margaritaville at Sea appears to be leaning heavily into music and entertainment as part of Beachcomber’s identity.
The new ship joins Paradise and Islander as Margaritaville at Sea continues expanding its fleet and cruise offerings.
