Easier Access With a New Pier

One of the most notable changes at RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay is the addition of a new pier.

Previously, Half Moon Cay was a tender port, meaning guests had to take smaller boats from the cruise ship to the island. With the new pier, ships can now dock directly at the destination.

This should make the arrival and departure process smoother for many guests, especially families, guests with mobility concerns, and anyone who prefers not to tender.

The new pier also allows Carnival’s Excel-class ships to visit RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay for the first time. This includes some of Carnival’s newest and largest ships.

New Tram Service and Walking Path

Carnival has also introduced a new tram service to help guests move around the island more easily. The tram will connect different areas of RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, making it more convenient to get from one section to another.

For guests who prefer to explore on foot, the new Papaya Pathway offers a scenic walking route around the destination.

This gives cruisers two options depending on how they want to spend their day: take the tram for convenience or enjoy a more leisurely walk through the island.

South Side Refresh

In addition to the new beachfront and pier, Carnival is refreshing the existing south side of the island. This includes updated design elements and improvements to food and beverage venues.

The goal appears to be keeping the natural beauty and relaxed atmosphere that guests already love, while adding more comfort, convenience and capacity.

What This Means for Carnival Cruisers

For Carnival guests, these changes should make a day at RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay more convenient and comfortable.

The new pier is likely the biggest practical upgrade, since docking directly can make the overall island experience smoother. The added loungers, umbrellas, cabanas, daybeds, bars, dining venues, tram service and walking path should also help spread guests out and create more options for how to spend the day.

For cruisers who already loved Half Moon Cay, the destination still appears to be focused on the beach and natural beauty. However, the new amenities bring it closer to the more developed private island experiences many cruisers have come to expect.

Final Thoughts

Carnival Cruise Line’s expansion of RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay brings several guest-friendly improvements, including a new pier, expanded beachfront, more loungers and umbrellas, new cabanas and daybeds, upgraded dining and bar venues, tram service, and a scenic walking path.

With 22 Carnival ships now calling on the destination and Excel-class ships able to visit for the first time, more Carnival cruisers will soon have the chance to experience the newly expanded RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay.
