Virgin Voyages has officially arrived in Alaska, bringing its adults-only cruise experience to the Pacific Northwest for the first time.
The cruise line kicked off its highly anticipated Alaska season on May 21, 2026, with sailings from Seattle aboard Brilliant Lady. The new season introduces Alaska-inspired dining, regional retail offerings, new onboard programming, and cultural experiences designed specifically for the destination.
For Virgin Voyages, this marks a major expansion into a destination that many of its loyal sailors have been asking for. Known for its kid-free, modern approach to cruising, Virgin is now bringing that “brilliantly different” style to one of the most scenic cruise regions in the world.
Virgin Voyages Enters Alaska With a Local Focus

Virgin Voyages says it has spent years preparing for its Alaska debut by working with local ports, communities, and environmental organizations.
As part of this new season, more than half of Virgin Voyages’ Alaska Shore Things are operated by sustainable tour operators, including companies certified through Adventure Green Alaska and Travelife. The cruise line has also partnered with ORCA to train its onboard marine team on whale sightings and collision-avoidance best practices.
Brilliant Lady will also follow voluntary speed reductions in the region to help protect whales and marine life. The ship is equipped with advanced wastewater treatment systems and shore power capability.
Michelle Bentubo, Chief Operating Officer of Virgin Voyages, said Alaska holds personal meaning for her, noting the scale of the landscapes, the richness of the culture, and the biodiversity of the region. She said Virgin felt a responsibility to honor the destination through deep partnerships with local communities and organizations.
New Alaska Onboard Experiences
Virgin Voyages is adding new Alaska-specific programming onboard Brilliant Lady, including two new Happenings Cast members created for the season.
One of the new additions is The Lumberjack, described as part athlete, part storyteller, and all flannel. This character will share stories connected to Alaska’s timber history and the real story of Ketchikan. The Lumberjack will be onboard select voyages.
The Naturalist is another new expert role for the Alaska season. This wildlife and ecology specialist will help sailors learn more about glaciers, whales, wildlife, and the surrounding ecosystem through conversations and small-group moments.
Virgin Voyages will also welcome a Cultural Heritage Guide from Alaska Native Voices on select sailings. This guide will host conversations and workshops focused on Indigenous and local Alaskan perspectives, including art, storytelling, contemporary culture, and the lived experiences of Alaska Native communities.
Alaska-Inspired Activities Onboard
Along with the new expert guests, Virgin Voyages is introducing several Alaska-themed onboard happenings.
Primetime Ports will offer a more visual and immersive alternative to traditional port talks, helping sailors prepare for the destinations they are about to visit.
Drawn to the Wild will invite guests to sketch on birch canvases in The Manor, using Alaska’s landscapes and sounds as inspiration.
Northern Nightcaps will be a hands-on mixology workshop featuring Alaska-inspired cocktails, including drinks such as Glacial Toddies and Forest Negronis.
Baking Alaska will give sailors a chance to try Alaska-inspired desserts paired with a wine flight.
For something a little more playful, Crack the Crab will bring a trivia-style competition where sailors use oversized foam crab claws to answer Alaska-themed questions. Very Virgin, honestly.
Alaska-Inspired Dining on Brilliant Lady

Virgin Voyages is also bringing regional flavors onboard for the Alaska season.
The cruise line’s culinary team has created eight Alaska-featured dishes across its eateries, available for a limited time while Brilliant Lady sails in the Pacific Northwest. Featured ingredients include Alaskan king crab, halibut, black cod, and smoked salmon.
Some of the Alaska-inspired menu items include:
The Wake will offer Pan-Roasted Alaskan Halibut with fondant potato, spinach, and champagne caviar sauce.
Pink Agave will serve Chorizo-Crusted Black Cod with red rice, mole poblano, and Alaskan king crab.
Extra Virgin will feature Squash Wrapped Halibut with king crab stuffed zucchini blossom, cherry tomato, and basil seeds.
Rojo will offer Grilled Squid with king crab, marcona almond, and chorizo shellfish sauce.
The Dock will serve Smoked Salmon Taramasalata with kalamata olives, pickled pearl onion, and pita chips.
Virgin Voyages is also adjusting its beverage program for the cooler climate, with expanded hot beverage options and local brews available across bars and Ship Eats.
Pacific Northwest Retail on High Street
The Alaska and Pacific Northwest theme will also extend to High Street, Virgin Voyages’ onboard retail area.
Ten retail brands onboard will feature artisans or products from the region. Guests can also expect new cold-weather essentials, including Ahoy beanies, textured knits, and layered outerwear.
Virgin Voyages Brings Its Adults-Only Style to Alaska

Virgin Voyages’ Alaska debut is a notable addition to the cruise line’s growing lineup of itineraries. While Alaska cruises are often associated with traditional cruise experiences, Virgin is leaning into its signature style with immersive programming, regional dining, community partnerships, and its adults-only atmosphere.
With Brilliant Lady now sailing from Seattle, Virgin Voyages is giving travelers a new way to experience Alaska, one that blends scenic cruising, local culture, wildlife education, and a more modern onboard vibe.
