BIG NEWS for both Pepsi and Coke lovers, as Carnival chooses Pepsi
While at first glance it may not seem like the biggest news in cruising, Carnival switching from Coke to Pespi really made waves!
Have you heard the news?
Carnival Cruise Lines has announced that PepsiCo will be their preferred beverage partner beginning in January 2020.
PEPSI VS COKE – The BIG News
Who remembers the Pepsi Challenge? I’m totally dating myself 😂
After many years of serving Coke to it’s passengers, Carnival will be switching to Pepsi starting in January 2020.
Of course, it’s not just soda or pop anymore – Carnival ships will have lots of non-soda options including Ice tea, sports drinks, juices, sparkling water, coffee drinks and more.
Cruise Facebook Pages and groups were buzzing with people leaving their thoughts ( some happy, some really upset, some neutral).
Understandably, those who love Coke are not too happy – although they have options, which you’ll see below.
However, many people expressed how they were thrilled to have more diet soda options and Mountain Dew, apparently a favorite.

Reducing Single Use Plastics – A step in the right direction
An interesting part of Carnival’s partnership with PepsiCo announcement, is it’s focus on reducing usage of single-use plastics. Every step in the right direction adds up, and has an impact.
“PepsiCo’s line-up of beverages will give our guests access to leading brands in growing non-soda categories like iced tea, juice and sparkling water, as well as popular soft drink brands that consumers love. We’re also excited to work with PepsiCo on our shared commitment to sustainability, including a reduced reliance on plastics, and alternative ways to deliver and serve water and other beverages.” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
What can loyal Coke lovers do?
If you are a coke lover, all is not lost. Cruise passengers can still bring 12 cans of soda on board. And some have said they absolutely will!
What do you think? Do you prefer Coke or Pepsi, or some of the other options? Did Carnival make the right choice? Please let me know in the comments below.
Happy Cruising!
