Carnival Cruise Line has announced the arrival of its newest Excel-class ship, Carnival Festivale, set to debut in spring 2027! As the fourth ship in the Excel series, following Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration, and Carnival Jubilee, Festivale brings a fresh identity and exciting new features to the fleet.
A Nod to the Past with a Bold New Future
The name Festivale pays tribute to Carnival’s history, inspired by the original Carnivale Festivale that sailed in the 1970s and 1980s. The new Festivale will sail from Port Canaveral and feature itineraries that include visits to Carnival’s new private destination, Celebration Key.
A Music-Inspired Experience
Carnival Festivale will celebrate the power of music with themed artwork, entertainment spaces, and venues designed around musical expression. From immersive art installations to bars filled with rhythm and soul, every corner of the ship will be alive with sound and energy.
One of the standout features will be the newly redesigned Alchemy Bar. This fan-favorite venue will now be located on Deck 6 in a larger, more prominent space. In addition to its signature handcrafted cocktails, the new Alchemy Bar will include live music performances, creating an entirely new vibe for Carnival guests to enjoy.
Dining on Festivale
While Carnival has not revealed full details about dining on the new Carnival Festivale, Chief Culinary Officer Emeril Lagasse has confirmed he is developing new dining concepts and menus specifically for this ship. Guests can look forward to exciting new flavors and innovative culinary experiences.
Family Fun and New Features
Carnival Festivale is designed with families in mind, reflecting the cruise line’s focus on multi-generational travel. Instead of the Family Harbor concept found on other Excel class ships, Festivale will introduce more connecting cabins, offering better options for larger families and groups.
For younger children, there will be a dedicated space for “Turtles,” a program designed for kids aged 6 months to 2 years.
Brand New Sunsation Point
The ship will also debut Sunsation Point, a brand-new waterpark designed to be the most family-friendly at sea. Sunsation Point will feature six slides, including two family raft slides, splash pads, spray toys, and more.
This area replaces the space previously occupied by the Bolt rollercoaster on Carnival Mardi Gras, Celebration and Jubilee. The change gives repeat cruisers something new to look forward to.
On certain evenings, Sunsation Point will remain open and come alive with events hosted by DJs, the Fun Squad, and the cruise director. Other activities include themed arcade spaces, a redesigned mini golf course, a sports court, and a running track.
Carnival Tropicale Coming in 2028
Looking ahead, Carnival has announced its fifth Excel-class ship, Carnival Tropicale, set to debut in 2028. This ship also draws inspiration from Carnival’s past, sharing its name with the original Carnival Tropicale delivered in 1981.
While few details have been released, Tropicale is expected to continue the line’s blend of nostalgic inspiration and modern innovation.
Project ACE Set for 2029
Carnival has also revealed plans for its most ambitious ship yet, Project ACE, scheduled to launch in 2029. This ship will have the capacity to carry up to 8,000 guests, making it the largest in Carnival’s history.
For comparison, Carnival Mardi Gras has a capacity of 6,400 guests!
Project ACE will introduce Carnival’s ninth ship class, which is being described as a major evolution for the cruise line. Itineraries are expected to open in two years.
