If you’re a fan of cruising and fine wine, Holland America Line has an exciting treat for you. Starting this October, the cruise line is introducing its first-ever branded sparkling wine, and it’s sure to elevate your onboard experience. In partnership with Four Feathers Wine Services, based in Washington’s Columbia Valley, Holland America has crafted a sparkling wine using the Methode Traditionnelle technique, the same method used for Champagne.
Whether you’re celebrating a special moment or simply enjoying the luxury of life at sea, this new sparkling wine promises to bring a touch of elegance to your voyage.
The Methode Traditionnelle Difference
The new Holland America Line sparkling wine isn’t just any bubbly. By using the Methode Traditionnelle, this wine is crafted using a process similar to how Champagne is made in France. This method involves a secondary fermentation in the bottle, giving the wine its characteristic fine bubbles and complex flavor.
According to Drew Foulk, Holland America’s Senior Manager of Beverage and Dining Operations and Innovation, the goal was to create a sparkling wine that adds a sense of luxury to the onboard experience. “Whether our guests are celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging during their voyage, we aim to provide them with something truly exceptional,” Foulk said.
A Perfect Partnership with Four Feathers Wine Services
To create a sparkling wine worthy of the Holland America name, the cruise line teamed up with Four Feathers Wine Services, a well-respected winery based in Prosser, Washington. Four Feathers has a reputation for combining world-class winemaking expertise with cutting-edge technology, ensuring each bottle meets the highest standards.
Rebecca De Kleine, General Manager and Director of Winemaking at Four Feathers, expressed excitement about the collaboration. “This wine showcases the best of our estate-grown fruit, grown in the celebrated Columbia Valley,” she said. De Kleine emphasized that sustainability is at the heart of Four Feathers’ winemaking process, from the vineyard to the final bottle.
