While last year was pretty epic for the cruise industry for new ship launches, 2025 has some amazing new cruise ships on their way!
In fact, in 2024 several cruise lines released their most revolutionary ships to date. From Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas setting the world record for the largest cruise ship in the world, to Princess Cruises releasing the all-new LNG powered Sphere Class with the Sun Princess, the cruise industry took major steps forward in the past year.
With several innovative cruise ships set to debut in 2025, cruise lines are raising the bar on luxury, entertainment, dining, and sustainability. From thrilling water parks and world-class dining options to immersive experiences tailored for families and couples, these brand-new cruises cater to every type of cruise traveler.
From the launch of Disney’s first Global Class cruise ship to the release of Ritz Carlton’s third superyacht, we’re only scratching the surface of what’s to come this year.
With that said, here are the newest cruise ships setting sail in 2025. This post covers the newest cruise ships from popular mainstream cruise lines, luxury cruise ships, and river cruises!
Best New Mainstream Cruise Ships in 2025
Norwegian Aqua
The Norwegian Aqua, set to debut in 2025, is a part of the Prima Plus Class and the newest cruise ship for Norwegian Cruise Line. The NCL Aqua promises a blend of cutting-edge technology, sustainable features, and first-at-sea guest experiences.
This brand-new cruise ship caters to various cruise travelers, from families to solo cruisers to couples looking for a romantic getaway.
Onboard Norwegian Aqua, cruise passengers will experience the world’s first hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide. There’s also a 10-story drop slide, Glow Court, and a beautiful infinity pool!
The Norwegian Aqua will be powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), reflecting NCL‘s commitment to reducing its environmental impact. The ship will also incorporate energy-efficient technologies, such as advanced wastewater treatment systems and energy-saving LED lighting.

Celebrity XCel
In 2025, Celebrity Cruises will release its 17th cruise ship, Celebrity XCel. This is the fifth and final Celebrity ship in the cruise line’s Edge series.
The brand new Celebrity XCel will upgrade the Edge Series. These enhancements include an expanded Rooftop Garden and Resort Deck, a multi-level Sunset Bar, a redesigned three-deck deck Plaza, and improved Magic Carpet functionalities.
This cruise ship will also feature unique dining concepts, including an all-new restaurant from French chef Daniel Boulud. The Retreat will offer more luxurious suite areas and a larger sundeck, while wellness amenities will see enhancements in the Thermal Suite.
The latest Edge Series vessel will continue Celebrity’s tradition of blending cutting-edge architecture with top-notch amenities while introducing features that elevate the cruising experience.

MSC World America
The MSC World America, launching in 2025, will be the second ship in MSC Cruises’ World Class series. With the success of MSC World Europa in Europe, MSC World America is tailored to the North American Market.
Sailing out of Miami, Florida, MSC World America is one of the most anticipated cruises coming out in 2025. This LNG-powered cruise ship features various activities ranging from zip lines to waterparks to the all-new CliffHanger Swing, MSC World America has no shortage of entertainment options and onboard attractions.
When MSC World Europa first set sail in 2022, it was to compete with Royal Caribbean Oasis Class, the largest cruise ships in the world at the time. However, in 2024, Royal Caribbean debuted the Icon Class cruise ships with the Icon of the Seas, thus raising the bar even further for what’s possible on a cruise ship.
With over 30 dining and bar venues, MSC World America will offer a wide range of cuisine, from international dishes to specialty restaurants serving Italian, Asian, and American cuisine. MSC’s latest cruise ship will also introduce new dining experiences tailored specifically for North American cruise passengers.
With its homeport being PortMiami, MSC World America will offer Caribbean itineraries to destinations such as Mexico, Jamaica, the Bahamas, and MSC’s private island, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.

Royal Caribbean Star of the Seas
In 2024, Royal Caribbean’s highly anticipated Icon of the Seas finally entered service. Following the massive success of the Icon of the Seas is the latest addition to the revolutionary Icon Class, the Star of the Seas.
In late August 2025, Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas will set sail from its homeport, Port Canaveral, in Florida. Star of the Seas cruise itineraries visit the Eastern and Western Caribbean with a stop at Royal Caribbeans Private Island, Perfect Day at Cococay.
The Star of the Seas will cater to cruise guests of all ages with its eight unique neighbourhoods, including Thrill Island, Chill Island, AquaDome, and the open-air Central Park. Cruise passengers can explore over 40 bars, unique venues, and restaurants.
Star of the Seas will continue to push the boundaries of innovation, guest experience, and unparalleled entertainment. Although there are many similarities between the Icon and Star, Star of the Seas features an enhanced kids club, a brand-new supper club called Lincoln Supper Club, and new dining options at the AquaDome Market.
This Icon-Class cruise ship features cutting-edge entertainment and exhilarating attractions like the Category 6 waterpark and the Crown’s Edge. Onboard, Star of the Seas offers the perfect blend of excitement and relaxation at sea.
Loyal Royal Caribbean cruisers have something to look forward to, with two additional Icon Class cruise ships joining the fleet in 2026 and 2027. Furthermore, Royal Caribbean has the option to build fifth and sixth Icon Class cruise ships in the future.

Princess Cruises Star Princess
In 2024, Princess Cruises Sun Princess set sail and was named the number 1 mega cruise by Condé Nast Travels Readers Choice Awards. Sun Princess took the cruise world by storm with unique features like The Arena, the brand-new Sanctuary Collection, and The Dome.
The Star Princess will debut in October 2025 and will be the second Sphere-Class cruise ship in Princess’s fleet. This next-level Love Boat is designed to offer a modern and luxurious cruising experience.
While Sun Princess featured Park19 at release (which was later removed), Princess seems to be going in a different direction with this space for future Sphere Class cruise ships. Princess’s Star Princess will feature basketball and pickleball courts, as well as a splash pad, jogging track, and shaded areas for relaxation on deck 19.
Additional changes included an expanded non-smoking casino and added seating in O’Malley’s Irish Pub and Love by Britto.
Star Princess will begin its inaugural sailing in the Caribbean. Then, in May 2026, she will make her way to Alaska.
Having sailed twice on Princess’s Sun Princess in the past year, I look forward to the Star Princess sailing in Alaska. With so many comfortable lounges and window space that provides amazing ocean views, the Star Princess feels like it was built for glacier viewing in Alaska.

Disney Adventure
The brand-new Disney Adventure cruise ship will debut in late 2025 and will be the largest Disney cruise ship released to date. Disney Cruise Line’s latest addition to its growing fleet will be the first Disney ship specifically designed to sail from Singapore.
Disney Adventure brings the magic of Disney, Marvel, and Pixar to life with seven immersive themed areas, including Disney Imagination Garden, Disney Discovery Reef, San Fransokyo Street, Marvel Landing, Toy Story Place, Town Square, and Wayfinder Bay. These distinct zones allow guests to experience the signature Disney experience without leaving the ship.
In addition to these brand-new themed areas, the ship will introduce innovative “firsts” for Disney Cruise Line, with experiences specially crafted for Southeast Asian travelers. This will make it an exciting and unique addition to the Disney fleet.

Disney Destiny
Disney Destiny is set to make cruise passengers feel the magic of Disney with incredible itineraries departing from Fort Lauderdale. This new Disney cruise ship will offer 4 to 5-night cruise vacations to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean.
The Disney Destiny is the third ship in Disney’s Wish Class, joining her sister ships, Disney Treasure and Disney Wish. This Disney ship is themed around the beloved heroes and villains from Disney stories, characters, and theme park attractions.
Marvel enthusiasts will have plenty to look forward to onboard the Disney Destiny, starting with the Grand Hall, a stunning multi-story atrium inspired by the fan-favorite movie Black Panther. This impressive space will feature a statue of T’Challa, the King of Wakanda, and cruise passengers can also spot Spider-Man and his Spider-bots on the ship’s stern.
Returning dining experiences include Worlds of Marvel, a favorite among young cruisers. Furthermore, the dinner show Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King is an exciting new addition. It is an interactive dining experience that is perfect for families cruising together!

Virgin Voyages Brilliant Lady
One of the most exciting new additions to the cruise industry this year is the Virgin Brilliant Lady. This is the fourth ship in Virgin Voyages’ fleet, which has been eagerly awaited since its delivery earlier this year.
Set to make waves in the world of cruising, Brilliant Lady is the first Virgin vessel designed to navigate the Panama Canal, thanks to its specialized width and innovative lifeboat system. This cruise ship will also visit Alaska, a Virgin Voyages first.
Guests can expect well-loved cabin categories, including new Sea Terrace staterooms featuring two hammocks for ultimate relaxation. Dining options will include fan favorites like Razzle Dazzle and Gunbae Korean BBQ, along with fresh concepts from the line’s Eat and Drink Festival.

Oceania Allura, the second ship in Oceania Cruises’ Allura class, is set to elevate luxury cruising with its culinary focus and elegant design. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Oceania Vista, Allura will feature many beloved dining venues, including Ember, which offers modern American classics, and Aquamar Kitchen, known for its health-conscious menu.
A highlight is the addition of a new Crêperie, serving fresh crêpes and waffles. As a crêpe lover, I’m looking forward to hopefully trying these!
Onboard, Oceania Allura has 612 cabins, including Veranda and French Veranda cabins. For those looking to splurge on a dream vacation, there’s also a Penthouse suite, Vista suite, Oceania suite, and Owners suite.
Every stateroom on Allura includes a balcony, and the ship will also introduce six Concierge Level Solo Veranda staterooms. This is ideal for solo cruisers looking for a luxurious cruising experience.
Other amenities include the Aquamar Spa and Vitality Center, a fitness center offering workout classes, and the Artist Loft for art enthusiasts.
Allura is scheduled to launch in July 2025 with Mediterranean itineraries before heading to the Caribbean for winter 2025-2026.

Viking Vesta
Viking Vesta is the latest addition to Viking’s expanding fleet of ocean ships. It is designed to be slightly larger than its predecessors and built for destination-focused travelers.
This ocean-going ship has a capacity of 998 guests and spans 784 feet, allowing it to dock in ports inaccessible to larger vessels. While Viking Vesta is slightly larger than earlier ships, primarily to accommodate new hydrogen fuel cell technology, it retains a guest-facing layout.
Onboard features include the Nordic Spa with a thermal suite, Manfredi’s Italian Restaurant, Torshavn bar and music lounge, and World Cafe buffet. Guests can dine al fresco at the outdoor Aquavit Terrace, which also features an aft infinity pool, or enjoy daily afternoon tea in the light-filled Wintergarden.
Like all Viking ocean ships, Viking Vesta offers an all-inclusive cruise experience. It covers accommodations, all dining, non-alcoholic beverages, beer, wine, and soft drinks during lunch and dinner, a complimentary shore excursion at each port, basic WiFi, access to the thermal suite, and room service.
Viking Vesta will sail a variety of Mediterranean itineraries, including the Iconic Western Mediterranean, Ancient Mediterranean Treasures, and Italian Sojourn. Voyages last seven to 21 days and depart from homeports such as Barcelona, Civitavecchia (Rome), and Piraeus (Athens).

Best New River Cruises in 2025
Viking Tonle
The Viking Tonle is a new river cruise ship setting sail in October 2025. This river cruise is specially designed for navigating the Mekong River in Southeast Asia. It will be Viking’s second vessel in this region, following the Viking Saigon, which debuted in 2022.
Named after the Khmer word for “fresh water,” the Tonle aims to offer an elegant cruising experience on its Magnificent Mekong itinerary, which includes significant cultural and historical sites across Vietnam and Cambodia.
Viking Tonle features 40 river-facing staterooms across three decks, including French Balcony cabins and larger Veranda Suites. The Explorer Suites, measuring 735 square feet, include a separate living area and large private balconies. Viking guests can enjoy various amenities such as a restaurant, a lounge and bar, a small fitness center, spa facilities, a swimming pool, and a unique open-air sky bar.
Viking’s brand new river cruise is set to redefine luxury river cruising on the Mekong. This river cruise combines scenic beauty with cultural exploration, making it a great choice for adventurous cruise travelers.
